We cannot hold a torch to light another person’s path without brightening our own.

A Wise Woman

April 28th, 2010

Sometimes it’s not the wealth you have but what’s inside you that others need….

A wise woman, who was traveling in the mountains, found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler, who was hungry.

The wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation.

The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime.

But, a few days later, he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.

“I’ve been thinking,” he said. “I know how valuable this stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Please give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me this stone.”

Acceptance Of Yourself

March 29th, 2010

When you are a beautiful person on the inside, there is nothing in the world that can change that about you. Jealousy is the result of one’s lack of self-confidence, self-worth, and self-acceptance. The Lesson: If you can’t accept yourself, then certainly no one else will. Don’t take No for an answer. Never submit to failure. Do not be cheated by mere personal success or acceptance. You will make all kinds of mistakes; but as long as you are generous and true, and also fierce, you cannot hurt the world or even seriously distress her.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. (more…)

Just as a tree that is full of fruit bows down for others to take the fruit, one who is humble will always live in self respect and treat others with respect.

The Face in the Mirror

February 27th, 2010

The good you find in others, is in you too. The faults you find in others, are your faults as well.

After all, to recognize something you must know it. The possibilities you see in others, are possible for you as well. (more…)

Real Heroes

January 31st, 2010

I never got to be the hometown, high school football hero. It was always a dream of mine when I was a boy. I really didn’t want to be the star of the team. I just wanted to be the kid that came off the bench and made the one big play that wins the game. It was not to be, however. In spite of running, lifting weights, staying in shape, and always trying my best my football career never made it beyond Junior Varsity. I guess God wanted me to learn early on that real heroes aren’t just found on the football field. They are found everywhere. (more…)

Humility does not mean you think less of yourself. It means you think of yourself less.
